This is our review of Miso-zuke Kasuzuke Kurama (Maps), visited in June 2026.
If you are looking for an easy yet satisfying Japanese lunch near Oimachi Station, Misozuke Kasuzuke Kurama Atre Oimachi 味噌漬け 粕漬け くらま アトレ大井町店 is a wonderful place to try. Located directly connected to the station, this specialist restaurant serves carefully marinated and grilled fish set meals—and my choice, the Hokke Sake Lees Grilled Set, was a quietly memorable one.

The gentle sweetness of sake lees, the rich flavor of the fish, and a complete traditional set meal came together in a comforting lunch that felt both nourishing and distinctly Japanese.
A Marinated Fish Specialist by Oimachi Station
Kurama is located on the 6th floor of Atre Oimachi, just a one-minute walk from Oimachi Station. As its name suggests, the restaurant specializes in fish marinated in ingredients such as Saikyo miso, Kinzanji miso, and sake lees before being grilled until fragrant and beautifully caramelized.
The restaurant’s homemade marinated fish is served in a classic Japanese set-meal style, usually with rice, miso soup, pickles, and small side dishes. Since opening in December 2016, it has become a convenient option for station users who want a relaxed fish lunch or dinner without traveling far from the station.
Inside, I found a calm Japanese-style space filled with the warmth of wood. The décor is inspired by a traditional miso storehouse, creating a peaceful contrast to the busy atmosphere of the station building. There are mainly table seats, along with comfortable box-style seating that works well whether you are dining alone, meeting friends, or having lunch with family.
Trying the Hokke Sake Lees Grilled Set
The star of my lunch was the Hokke Sake Lees Grilled Set ほっけ酒粕焼き御膳. The grilled fish arrived with an inviting aroma, its lightly browned surface immediately making me eager to pick up my chopsticks.

Once I broke into the flesh, the hokke was wonderfully tender and flaky. Its naturally rich, oily flavor unfolded gently, followed by the fragrant aroma and rounded sweetness of sake lees. Rather than overpowering the fish, the sake lees enhanced it, creating a deeper and more lingering taste than ordinary grilled fish.
What I enjoyed most was the balance. The sake lees seasoning was present but restrained, allowing the character of the fish to remain at the center. The surface had a savory, smoky depth from the grill, while the inside stayed moist and delicate. With every bite, the fish’s light saltiness, mellow sweetness, and satisfying richness blended together naturally.

A bite of steamed white rice followed by a piece of sake lees-grilled hokke was the kind of simple combination I could happily repeat again and again.
A Complete Japanese Set Meal
The Hokke Sake Lees Grilled Set is not just about the main dish. It comes together as a proper Japanese meal with rice, miso soup, pickles, and side dishes. These supporting items help refresh the palate between bites of the richly flavored grilled fish.
The official menu describes its grilled fish sets as including two small side dishes, pickles, rice, and miso soup. That thoughtful structure makes the meal feel balanced and filling without becoming too heavy.

For me, this is exactly the appeal of a well-prepared Japanese set meal: every element has a purpose, from the warmth of the soup to the gentle flavors of the small dishes.
Why Kurama Is Popular in Oimachi
Reviews of Kurama Atre Oimachi often praise the quality and variety of its marinated grilled fish. One popular option, the Kurama Set, allows diners to enjoy four types of marinated fish, including Saikyo miso-marinated black cod. It is a particularly appealing choice for anyone who wants to compare different miso and sake lees marinades in one meal.
Other diners have highlighted the excellent Saikyo miso-marinated grilled fish and the opportunity to taste different marinades paired with fish such as black cod, salmon, hokke, and Spanish mackerel. The relaxed dining room also receives positive comments, while salmon sake lees set meals are often described as reliably satisfying.
Based on my experience, I would recommend the Hokke Sake Lees Grilled Set when you are craving a fish lunch with plenty of richness, or when you want to try the elegant aroma of sake lees instead of the more familiar sweetness of miso-marinated fish.

It is not a flashy lunch—but that is exactly its charm.
