A Cozy Italian-French Lunch at L’estaminet Lune

This is our review of L’estaminet Lune (Maps), visited in January 2026.

In a quiet corner of a residential neighborhood in Yoga, Setagaya, Tokyo, there’s a cozy house-turned-restaurant called L’estaminet Lune (レスタミネ リュンヌ). Like a light flickering on at dusk, it reveals itself softly. The restaurant, known for combining the best of Italian and French cuisine, offers a lunch experience that feels both relaxing and refined—an indulgent little reward for grown-ups who appreciate sincerity in cooking.

Atmosphere and Concept

Inside, white walls reflect the warmth of wooden accents, creating an inviting, homey atmosphere—as if you’ve been welcomed into a friend’s home. At the same time, each table is neatly covered with a cloth, and the glasses and cutlery are perfectly arranged, giving it an understated sense of elegance.

Lunch is limited to 90 minutes, and service ends when the day’s preparations run out. This approach embodies the restaurant’s philosophy: serve only what’s freshly made and delicious that day, never in bulk.

The menu carefully blends Italian regional dishes with the French bistro spirit. Every element—whether it’s the richly flavored bouillon used in the pasta sauces, the house-baked bread, or the handmade charcuterie—reflects an uncompromising dedication to craftsmanship.

Lunch Menu

Menu

Lunch features a set menu where you can choose between pasta or sandwiches, accompanied by an appetizer, house-made bread, a main dish, and a drink.

Locals aren’t the only ones who flock here; many loyal customers come from afar. This is a pasta lunch that makes both body and soul happy. Everything is cooked to perfection.

The appetizer salad showcases a generous variety of vegetables, often topped with cheese and house-cured ham—so well prepared it lifts your mood at first glance.
Rather than being a simple nibble to start, the appetizer properly sets the stage, signaling “your lunch begins here” with a quiet excitement.

Broccoli and Shirasu Spaghetti: A Harmonious Dish of Aroma and Flavor

For the main dish that day, I chose the Broccoli and Shirasu (whitebait) Spaghetti (ブロッコリーとしらすのスパゲティ)—a simple yet beautiful plate. The vivid green of the broccoli contrasts with the tiny patches of white shirasu, creating a calm, pleasing balance on the plate.

As I brought the fork close, a gentle aroma of olive oil rose with a faint, teasing hint of garlic. The broccoli retained a pleasant bite but had also melted slightly into the oil and pasta water, becoming part of the sauce that coated the thin spaghetti seamlessly.

The first bite revealed a mild richness—the sweet, fresh green flavor of broccoli infused in the oil—followed by the shirasu’s clean oceanic saltiness, bringing depth and focus to the dish. The more I chewed, the more the flavors expanded, lingering gently.

The perfectly cooked spaghetti remained firm yet tender. As I ate, the broccoli softened and mingled with the shirasu, letting the sauce come together in my mouth with each bite—a subtle, delightful harmony.

Why We Keep Coming Back

From the pasta’s texture to the abundance of fresh vegetables in the salad and the standout house-made bread, every dish shows meticulous attention.

The lunch sets strike the perfect balance between portion size and satisfaction, offering exceptional value for the price. L’estaminet Lune is both an everyday favorite in the Yoga area and a destination worth traveling for.

Even the simplest-sounding dishes, like vegetable and shirasu pasta, earn praise for their authentic flavors, perfectly seasoned ingredients, and precise cooking.

The Broccoli and Shirasu Spaghetti perfectly embodies what this restaurant stands for—unpretentious yet deeply satisfying. It draws you in quietly, bite by bite. By the time you finish, you already find yourself thinking, Next time, I’ll try that other pasta… maybe the appetizer, too.

It’s the kind of lunch that gently becomes part of your everyday happiness.
