This is our review of BeefGarden Sakurashimmachi (Maps), visited in March 2026.
If you’re looking for a hidden yakiniku gem in Tokyo, let me introduce you to BeefGarden Sakurashimmachi (焼肉 BeefGarden(ビーフガーデン)桜新町) — a luxurious spot where you can savor premium Japanese Wagyu beef purchased by the whole cow. Nestled in Setagaya, this restaurant turns an ordinary dinner into a gourmet journey through the finest cuts of meat.

The Story Behind BeefGarden Sakurashimmachi
Just a two-minute walk from Sakurashimmachi Station’s South Exit, along the charming Sazae-san Street, you’ll find BeefGarden Sakurashimmachi, a new addition to Tokyo’s high-end yakiniku scene. This stylish restaurant opened its doors on January 15, 2025, with a unique concept: direct-sourced whole-cow Wagyu dining.

The team purchases entire Black Wagyu cattle from select farms across Japan, offering more than 50 different rare cuts — from lean red meat to beautifully marbled slices — all served at farm-direct prices. Their passion for freshness shines through in dishes like the unfrozen “Nama-Tan” (fresh beef tongue), which has already become a local favorite.

The restaurant’s calm, smoke-free interior features private tatami rooms and rustic tables, open for dinner from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. It’s ideal for family meals, celebrations, or romantic dates in Setagaya.
The Signature Tochigi Whole-Beef Platter: 9 Exquisite Cuts

To kick off the evening, I ordered the restaurant’s highlight — the “Tochigi Whole-Beef Platter (9 Cuts) 栃木県一頭盛り(9部位).” Carefully sourced Tochigi Wagyu, raised on lush pastures, came plated in a symphony of colors — ruby-red meat lined with intricate white marbling.
As each cut hit the grill, the sweet, nutty aroma of Wagyu fat filled the air. Every bite offered a new expression of flavor: the Karubi (short rib) melted with buttery richness, the Misugi delivered deep, savory umami, and the Harami (skirt steak) had a satisfying, meaty chew.

Each texture told a different story — from firm, lean muscle fibers to melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. BeefGarden’s “unbeatable value for whole-cow yakiniku” and “unmatched variety of rare cuts.” is the reason why worth a visit.
This platter alone proves why BeefGarden has quickly become one of the best Wagyu restaurants in Tokyo.
The Fresh Salted Tongue That Blew My Mind

Next came the must-try Fresh Tongue with Salt (生タン塩) — a dish that truly defines fresh Wagyu yakiniku in Japan. Unlike ordinary tongue, these thick slices arrive never frozen, glistening with freshness and topped with minced green onion and crunchy tempura flakes.
After a quick squeeze of lemon and a light sear, the result was irresistible: crispy on the outside, soft and juicy inside. The combination of the tongue’s natural sweetness and the purity of salt created a clean, savory harmony that lingered beautifully.
The Perfect Finish: Makgeolli Beer and Special Cold Noodles

To refresh after the grilled feast, I tried the signature Makgeolli Beer (マッコリビアー), a creative blend unique to BeefGarden. The drink combines the soft sweetness of Korean makgeolli with the light bitterness of beer hops, producing a fruity aroma and perfectly crisp finish. It’s the ideal palate cleanser after rich yakiniku.
For the finale, I ordered the Special Cold Noodles (Reimen) 特製冷麺. The slippery noodles had just the right elasticity, paired with a soft-boiled onsen egg, crunchy vegetables, and tender beef tendon in a mildly spicy and sweet broth. Each bite was refreshing, with colors and textures that danced together.

Next time, I’m definitely coming back for their course menu — because one visit simply isn’t enough. For anyone exploring dining in Setagaya or southwest Tokyo, BeefGarden Sakurashimmachi is the place to be when you crave true Japanese Wagyu luxury.
