“Osake to Gohan aiko” Serving a Flavorful Pork and Eggplant Miso Set Meal

This is our review of “Osake to Gohan aiko” (Maps), visited in April 2026.

When you step into Osake to Gohan aiko aiko (お酒と、ごはん アイコ)during lunchtime, you’re greeted by a warm atmosphere that makes you forget the noise of everyday life.

Concept and Beginning

Osake to Gohan aiko sits in a prime location just a one-minute walk from Kamino-Ke Station on the Tokyu Oimachi Line. It was started by a group of food and drink enthusiasts who wanted to create a place that could be a casual lunch spot during the day and a cozy izakaya at night. The idea sprang from the owner’s long-standing passion for food, and the restaurant just opened this autumn. Its concept revolves around using seasonal ingredients to craft comforting obanzai (home-style dishes) and sake accompaniments—a space designed to bring a little joy into daily life.

Atmosphere and Lunch Appeal

Nestled quietly in a residential area of Kamino-Ke, the restaurant blends naturally with the neighborhood thanks to its calm exterior. Inside, the centerpiece is a counter-style layout—perfect for solo lunches. During lunchtime, the restaurant serves set meals that draw in busy office workers and locals alike.

The Charm of Pork and Eggplant Miso Stir-Fry

On this day, I went for the Pork and Eggplant Miso Stir-Fry Set (豚と茄子の旨味噌炒め定食). This dish, often featured in the restaurant’s Instagram posts, is one of its most popular. Tender chunks of pork, rich in umami, are paired with juicy eggplant that soaks beautifully in the savory miso sauce. The glossy reddish-brown miso delicately coats the meat and vegetables—a sight that instantly whets your appetite.

The first thing that hits you is the deep, sweet-and-salty aroma of miso teasing your nose, followed by the savory scent of pork fat gently wafting in the air. The subtle freshness of the eggplant adds a homely warmth to the dish.

In terms of taste, the sweetness of the miso enhances the pork’s richness, while the slight tang of the eggplant provides a lively contrast. Each bite is packed with flavor, yet the aftertaste remains clean. The texture alternates between the firm springiness of the pork and the soft, melt-in-the-mouth eggplant, making each mouthful satisfying. Served with rice (available in adjustable portions), miso soup, and small side dishes, this set offers a well-rounded, generous serving that leaves you fully content.

Prices are reasonable, and the restaurant is steadily gaining loyal patrons who consider it a hidden gem in Kamino-Ke.

Next time, I’m planning to return in the evening to try their selection of Japanese sake. The lingering satisfaction from that lunch made my afternoon at work all the more pleasant.
